DESCRIPTION:The world is big. So is the global OpenStreetMap dataset -- and
it's growing bigger each day. This is great\, of course\, since OSM is be
coming ever more complete and detailed. But working with this data volume
 requires high-end hardware\, SQL skills\, and ample patience.\n\nGeoDesk t
akes a novel approach\, with a database engine designed specifically for O
SM data\, with orders-of-magnitude improvements in import times\, storage
requirements and query speed. The software is 100% free and open-source an
d runs on Windows\, Linux and macOS\, with modest hardware requirements.\n
\nIn this talk\, I'll cover the basics of the GeoDesk workflows: how to im
port OSM data and perform basic queries using the command line\, and expor
t results in various formats. I will also give an introduction to the thre
e GeoDesk SDKs for Python\, Java\, and C++. These toolkits allow more soph
isticated spatial queries and can be integrated with other popular librari
es (e.g. JTS\, Shapely\, and GEOS) to build full-fledged geospatial applic
ations.\n\nFinally\, I will briefly outline the project roadmap for the 3.
 0 release coming this fall.

DESCRIPTION:Road infrastructure data held by French territorial authorities
is rich\, authoritative and largely invisible to the open data ecosystem.
This talk presents the journey of an active OSM and Wikidata contributor
who also works in road information management at municipal\, intermunicipa
l and departmental levels in Southern France. This dual role has led to th
e design of a coherent\, nested open data architecture for road intelligen
ce.\nAt the core lies a data model in which Wikidata acts as the geometric
abstraction layer enabling convergence of non-official data sources and m
ulti-database identifiers — its design encouraging exhaustiveness throug
h sourced statements and a completeness gauge that makes quality progress
both visible and rewarding. OpenStreetMap holds the geometric and operatio
nal details\, while BD TOPO (IGN) serves as the authoritative reference da
taset to which both OSM geometries and Wikidata items are systematically c
ross-referenced and linked. This nesting creates a powerful convergence: t
he State's national reference\, locally produced data from territorial aut
horities\, and their near real-time mirroring through OSM geometry and Wik
idata semantics.\nPanoramax street-level imagery feeds both OSM mapping ta
sks and change detection workflows — including early experiments with AI
-assisted approaches applied to infrastructure monitoring. The presentatio
n covers modelling choices at the Wikidata–OSM interface\, automation pi
pelines that reduce friction between internal road management tools and op
en data outputs\, and practical benefits for road users across GPS and nav
igation applications.\nThis talk targets contributors interested in Wikida
ta–OSM integration\, open government data processes\, and the practical
use of street-level imagery for infrastructure maintenance. It will also o
penly address methodological limits\, work organization practices\, and cu
rrent gaps in tools within and around the OpenStreetMap ecosystem — incl
uding possible ways forward\, and an honest look at tensions between the p
ace of field experimentation and the deliberative nature of community cons
 ensus.

they edit?\n- What will the future bring?

ind small but meaningful fixes to the map: a building that crosses a road\

DESCRIPTION:Alongside the enrichment of the OpenStreetMap database over the
years\, numerous tools have been developed to interact with or to create
derivative products: editors\, data extraction tools\, geocoding services\
, slippy maps\, or routing engines. Most of these tools are accessible vi
a scripting languages through APIs or dedicated libraries. Among these lan
guages\, R stands out as a free and open source programming language and s
oftware for statistical computing and data visualization. Complemented by
more than 23\,500 user-contributed packages hosted on the Comprehensive R
Archive Network in 2026\, the language’s versatility allows users to bui
ld unified workflows within an environment conducive to reproducible resea
rch. R is widely used for research purposes in many fields beyond statisti
cs\, such as biology\, social sciences\, or geomatics. A subset of its pac
kages forms a robust and mature spatial ecosystem that makes it easy to ha
ndle and display spatial data. Consequently\, R provides seamless access t
o various APIs and tools for downloading and filtering OpenStreetMap data\
, querying shortest routes and itineraries\, or generating both static and
interactive maps. \n\nAs part of our research activities\, we have develo
ped some of the key OpenStreetMap-related R packages. For example\, the _o
srm_ package has enabled the integration of time-distance calculations in
many academic studies by providing a straightforward access to the OSRM ro
uting engine. The package has been widely used in numerous published paper
 s across various disciplines (health\, transport\, environmental science\,
or education). Thus\, we argue that R enables researchers to efficiently
use OpenStreetMap thanks to a unified and reproducible environment and spe
cialized packages.\n\nIn this presentation\, we first explore a curated se
lection of R packages designed to interact with the OpenStreetMap database
. We begin with packages that download and extract data\, such as _osmextr
act_ and _osmdata_. Then\, we explore solutions that interface third party
softwares for geocoding (Nominatim with _tidygeocoder_) and routing (OSRM
with _osrm_\, Valhalla with _valh_). Finally\, we address dynamic cartogr
aphy (using _leaflet_) and creation of static maps from raster tiles (usin
g _maptiles_) or from vector objects (using _maposm_). \n\nTo illustrate t
he practical application of these tools\, we conclude with a short\, seaml
ess and fully reproducible example. From the geocoding of an address\, to
the extraction of amenities or the use of routing engines and till the cre
ation of a publication-ready map\, we propose a complete workflow that har
ness the power of R ecosystem to create insightful analysis from OpenStree
 tMap data.

DESCRIPTION:Maps have been essential in the development and the success of

DESCRIPTION:OpenStreetMap is one of the richest databases in the world. sta
te of the map\n\nwhenever it comes to creating a vector base map\, we all
run into the same wall: the daunting complexity of MapLibre/Mapbox GL styl
e files. The result? We tend to fall back on "off-the-shelf" styles or min
or variations\, smoothing over the semantic richness of the underlying dat
a.\n\nAs a GIS engineer at Tesmo Maps / SNCF Connect\, I had to rethink my
methods to stop being held back by my tools. In this talk\, I share my ha
nds-on experience building an industrial-grade workflow to regain full con
trol over map rendering:\n\n- **Style-as-Code:** Why and how I moved away
from visual editors (such as Maputnik) to work directly with JSON in a tex
t editor.\n- **The "Live Edit" workflow:** A walkthrough of my toolstack
 — simple\, reproducible\, and built entirely on open-source components.\
n- **The Design/OSM translator:** My method for collaborating with designe
rs who have no background in geography or the OSM data model\, and turning
their creative intentions into complex technical filters.\n\nThe goal is
to show that anyone can build and maintain a large number of fully custom
 styles.

so far\, only commercial actors have aggregated open terrain and aerial im
agery datasets at scale into a unified data product. The Mapterhorn projec

DESCRIPTION:SNCF Transilien has mapped with great details 436 train station
s in the Greater Paris area. This work was conducted in several stages\, b
etween 2018 and 2022. An application using this data helps travelers to fi
nd their way inside and around railway stations. The app displays multi-le
vel floor plans\, enables users to find equipments and services\, and prov
ides indoor/outdoor routing with an option to use elevators rather than st
airways.\n\nEnsuring these services function properly requires to **mainta
in the data**. This means both updating it when a station or its neighbour
hood has changed\, and preserving the high quality of the data. The latter
is achieved by checking changes to the data inside and around railway sta
tions. This **moderation work** is achieved through an innovative process
that enables us to :\n- compare the data for each station between 2 dates
freely defined\n- detect and classify changes that need to be checked \n-
apply a whitelist to avoid checking one's own changes\n- review those chan
ges and produce a report \n\nWe set up a project that is based on **PostGI
S** and **QGIS**\, makes use of **osmium** and **osm2pgsql**\, and require
s a small amount of SQL code to detect changes. This project enables us to
efficiently moderate the data changes that can impact the SNCF app. \n\nT

DESCRIPTION:La République des Cartes ("The Republic of Maps") is a French
civic initiative launched by IGN\, the national mapping agency and fifteen
partners to put cartography at the service of democratic participation\,
territorial decision-making and popular education. \n\nIts first "Jour de
la Carte" ("Map Day")\, held on 4 February 2026\, brought together around
115 grass-roots events across France: in town halls\, schools\, public lib
raries\, design schools\, urban-planning agencies and citizen collectives.
The 2027 edition aims at 500 - 1000 events and at extending the movement
internationally.\n\nBehind the initiative is a simple intuition. Maps are
everywhere in our daily lives. They shape what we see\, what we don't see\
, and the choices we make as citizens. Yet most people never get to make a
map\, question one\, or discuss one collectively. La République des Cart
es gathers a broad coalition to change that - cartographers\, designers\,
 elected officials\, teachers\, researchers\, urban planners\, and partners
ranging from Banque des Territoires\, Vinci Group (La Fabrique de la Cit
 é and Leonard)\, OVHcloud\, Ubisoft\, DocaPoste\, LaPoste\, NoDesign and
a lot more.\n\nThis talk will share what we learned from the first edition
\, the strategy and ambitions for 2026-2027 and the open-licensed tools th
at have been built and tested in the field - including a 60-minute discuss
ion workshop\, an exhibition kit and a collaborative board game.\n\nFor th
e OpenStreetMap community\, this is also an invitation. The 2027 edition w
ill be meaningful if it connects more with the people who actually make ma
ps. The worldwide OSM community is among the most legitimate\, organised a
nd demanding of those communities\, and we are explicitly looking for amba
ssadors and partners who would like to bring a Map Day event to their terr
itory\, in their own language\, in their own way.\n\nThe 40-minute slot wi
ll be split: about 20 minutes for the presentation\, 20 minutes for a part
icipatory segment based on the first part of our "Map that we need" worksh
op\, so that the audience leaves with a concrete tool - and ideally a few
new ideas about which maps the OSM ecosystem could help bring to life.

DESCRIPTION:This presentation introduces a new step-by-step approach that a
ims at helping to fix the incompleteness and heterogeneity of the OSM data
. \nIt first focuses on the OSM features that comprise the backbone of hom
ogeneous OpenStreetMap data\, before broadening the perspective to include
other objects: the nodes representing settlements\, the main road connect
ing them to the main road network\, as well as the residential area showin
g the extent of the settlement.\nThe OSM Skeleton project aims to identify
all missing\, inaccurate\, incomplete\, or obsolete objects in the OSM da
ta backbone in order to resolve inconsistencies. OSM Skeleton uses externa
l data to identify the missing features and performs spatial analysis\, cr
ossed features and various metrics to analyze incompleteness and heterogen
eity. For instance\, the approach introduces a hybrid analytic feature tha
t combines residential and street network areas. \nEach type of issue\, wh
ether confirmed or potential\, is represented by a specific layer at natio
nal scale and can be resolved by clicking to access the relevant area in a
n OSM editor to modify the existing OSM data using the available imagery.
The most significant issues are displayed at all scales\, while minor ones
are displayed at higher zoom levels.\nAll the issues can be processed by
a click giving access to a webpage providing mapping instructions and butt
ons to open the area in either JOSM or iD. Forecasting next mapping steps
involving field mapping\, the OSM Skeleton approach also performs an analy
sis of the completeness of points of interest (POIs) for cities and towns.
\nInitially developed in two regions of Africa and South America\, the me
thodology reveals regional or national patterns\, highlighting significant
contrasts between regions and between small towns with the same region. D
aily updated statistics categorized by issue or first-level administrative
division provide a complete overview of the issues at hand. \nTechnically
\, the OSM Skeleton approach uses standard PostgreSQL-generated Open Geosp
atial Consortium (OGC) layers. These layers can be used on ready online ma
ps provided by a spatial data infrastructure (SDI) or in any OGC-compatibl
e client. All layers can be downloaded natively in various GIS formats. Ra
ther than relying on remote mapping\, OSM Skeleton aims to expand local OS
M activities\, including imagery and field mapping\, as well as the local
promotion of enhanced\, complete OSM data.

DESCRIPTION:The Outdoors Group in France has a selfish purpose: help create
OSM-based maps that we and our fellow outdoors practitioners and professi

SM to create better maps and who discovered on the way that this will requ
ire other classes of end users to adopt OSM or at least find their way aro
und it: route operators\, tourism offices\, land managers\, mountain rescu
e services\, etc.\n\nThis talk reports on our collective successes and rem
aining challenges in turning OSM-based maps into reliable and safe maps f
or outdoors activities in France and onboarding other end-users. Successes
include going from zero to 30.000 km of node networks in a few years\, ma
intaining route continuity above 90% on ~200.000 km of hiking routes\, and
starting collaborations with a few route operators. The challenges that w
e report on include better engagement of various categories of end users s
uch as local institutions and land managers. Analyzing these challenges di
rects us toward a few irritants that we need to manage to make OSM more i
nclusive towards them\; this includes some mapping principles and semantic
models in OSM\, the need for better tooling for relation management\, and
perhaps additional governance bodies.\n\nIn addition to reporting on our

t categories\, and download GeoJSON filtered by administrative boundaries.
No GIS expertise required.\n\nWhen a planning team worked on a bus networ
k reevaluation in Mexico City in the late 2000s\, teams GPS-tagged informa
l bus stops and routes\, data dying in proprietary reports. At that time\,
OpenStreetMap was just emerging and didn't have the coverage yet. But it
offered the perfect infrastructure to make this data reusable and useful f
or local communities\, if only teams had known about it.\n\nToday\, OSM h
as grown\, but accessing it for city-level planning remains challenging. T
ools exist\, but extracting city datasets filtered by administrative bound
aries is still difficult for non-technical teams. OSM for Cities closes th
at gap\, with categories spanning schools\, healthcare\, cycling infrastru
cture\, and transit\, backed by a self-hosted Overpass instance for global
  coverage.\n\nThis open-source project invites planners\, researchers\, lo
cal mappers and city officials to use the platform and share feedback. Wha
t would you do with easy access to your city's OSM data? We want to hear t
he use cases we haven't thought of yet\, and the gaps we should be filling

DESCRIPTION:With this study we aim to quantify the amount of mappable indoo
r space in European cities. On this base we can assess the completeness of
indoor data in OSM. We operate under the premise that only publicly acces
sible spaces are relevant for inclusion in the OSM database. Thus\, we fir
st identify candidate buildings based on building tag values and spatially
realated amenities. We then employ values derived from Neufert design gui

method is tested with four European cities\, Pecs\, Dresden\, Budapest and

DESCRIPTION:Over 10 years ago\, the French Institute of Geographic Informat
ion (IGN) created "Minecraft on demand"\, a web service that uses real geo
graphical data to build playable worlds for voxel games such as Minecraft
(worlds made of small unit cubes). After 135\,000 voxel world generations\
, including more than 6\,000 from OSM data\, the service turned out to be
limited\, missing flexibility and using only a small fraction of OSM data.
The institute capitalized on its experience to design a new standalone an
d flexible tool able to exploit the full richness of OSM data and much mor
e.\n\nAs many generation constraints as possible have been removed. For in
stance\, size of created world is only limited by game format and not anym
ore by memory size. The extremely high configurability makes this tool ver
y versatile. Decisions are driven by the user’s creativity and not by th
 e software. All the tasks\, ranging from data loading\, processing\, all t
he way to rendering are described through a human readable configuration f
ile\, so that even non-programmers can easily fine-tune their pipeline. Th
is new tool can be seen as the "Swiss Army knife" of geographical data vox
elization (conversion of data into voxel worlds).\n\nThe tool is open sour
ce\, modular and can be extended with Java modules. It paves the way for n
ew community-maintained features\, such as support for new geographical da
ta formats\, processing algorithms\, or voxel formats. Consequently\, the
tool has the potential to natively manipulate any type of data (vector\, r
aster\, point cloud...) originating from any provider (OSM Overpass\, OGC
WFS/WMS\, local files...)\, process it in various ways\, and create any vo
 xel-based format as a result (Luanti\, Minecraft\, Lego...). For instance\
, it is possible to create a Luanti world with terrain elevation imported
from OpenDEM\, and any feature from OSM (road network\, buildings\, land u
se...).\n \nWhile most of the existing tools are focused on "fun" or educa
tional usages\, this one makes no assumption about the user's intent\, and
can be used for any purpose\, including:\n- Immersive exploration (e.g. f
or citizen participation)\n- Rebuild in context (e.g. of a monument)\n- Th
ematic rendering (e.g. based on a tag such as restaurant's cuisine)\n- Mix
ing/custom sources (e.g. with local files)\n- And many more to discover!

DESCRIPTION:OSRM was once the go-to routing engine for anyone working with
OpenStreetMap data: fast\, purpose-built\, and deeply aligned with OSM’s
data model. But in recent years\, the project lost momentum. Issues piled
up\, pull requests stalled\, and the community started asking: is anyone
still home?\n\nThis talk shares early lessons from a renewed effort to cha
nge that\, presented by OSRM’s founder and BDFL.\n\nWe’ll give an hone
st account of where OSRM stands today: what works\, what doesn’t\, and w
hat the broader routing ecosystem has taught us. More importantly\, we’l
l share what the revitalization effort looks like in practice: a renewed c
 ommitment to OSM-first routing philosophy\, a public roadmap\, a lower con
tribution barrier\, and a clearer community voice.\n\nAt the heart of this
renewal is a shift in technical ambition. OSRM has always excelled as a h
igh-performance server engine\, but routing doesn’t only happen in data
centers. Field workers\, humanitarian responders\, cyclists navigating wit
hout connectivity: they all need routing on the device in their pocket. We
’ll outline early work toward a single codebase that serves both worlds\
, powering large-scale server deployments and running efficiently on handh
eld devices\, without splitting the project or compromising OSM fidelity.\
n\nOSRM’s core strength has always been its refusal to treat OSM as just
another data format. The routing profiles\, the handling of access tags\,
the speed model: all of it is designed around how OSM actually works. Tha
t advantage is worth fighting for\, and worth bringing to every platform i
t can reach.\n\nAttendees will leave with a clear picture of OSRM’s curr
ent state\, the technical roadmap ahead\, and concrete ways to get involve

DESCRIPTION:As a mapper\, we spend hours micro-mapping surface types\, tact
ile paving\, complex building geometries or trees. But when you check the
 map\, they are invisible.\n\nLegacy web cartography forces a compromise:\n
**To keep standard Vector Tiles (MVT) small enough for network transfer\,
rendering pipelines systematically drop niche tags and simplify geometries
**.\n\nMapLibre is now the default vector renderer on the OpenStreetMap fr
ont page. Moving from static rasters to interactive vectors is the next st
ep in improving this experience.\nTo make the front page a true 1:1 reflec
tion of the database\, we must eliminate this data-loss.\n\nThis talk cove
rs the MapLibre technical roadmap for rendering the complete OSM tag dicti
onary directly in the browser. We detail the integration of two technologi
es:\n- **MapLibre Tile (MLT)**: A vector data compression specification th
at reduces bandwidth\, allowing the delivery of heavy\, unfiltered OSM dat
asets to the client.\n- **WebGPU**: Shifting the computational bottleneck
from the CPU to the GPU\, enabling browsers to render massive MLT payloads
\, dynamic styling\, and 3D geometries at 60fps.\n\nThe presentation featu
res a live\, split-screen benchmark using dense data to compare the older
raster maps vs legacy MVT/WebGL vs the MLT/WebGPU pipeline.\nAttendees wil
l see how upgrading the shared open-source infrastructure is necessary to
 visualize **every** mapper’s contribution.

DESCRIPTION:Access to affordable\, nearby daycare is a pressing concern for
many parents\, particularly young mothers who seek to continue their educ
ation or participate in the workforce. Yet\, in many parts of Africa\, spa
tial data on childcare facilities remains sparse\, outdated\, or completel
y unavailable.\nThis talk will present a community mapping initiative that
aims to address this data gap by identifying and mapping daycare faciliti
es in a Nairobi neighbourhood using OpenStreetMap tools. Through a partici
patory process involving local youth and community groups\, the project co
llects geolocated data on operational daycare centres\, including their na
 mes\, services\, capacity\, contact information\, and safety features.\nTo
achieve this\, the project utilises QGIS for planning\, digitisation\, an
d visualisation of the data layers\, while QField is used for efficient\,
mobile-based field data collection. With the JOSM plugin in QGIS\, the cle
aned and verified datasets are uploaded directly to the OSM platform\, ens
uring that the information becomes globally accessible and contributes to
the growing body of open data supporting African communities.\nThe use of
these open-source tools enables community members\, including those with l
imited technical backgrounds\, to engage in the full mapping workflow. The
project ultimately empowers local mappers\, supports better decision-maki
ng for parents\, and enables local leaders and planners to identify servic
e gaps and allocate resources more effectively.\nIn alignment with the con
ference theme\, this initiative showcases how grassroots open mapping can
connect communities to essential services\, promote gender equality\, and
foster sustainable collaboration among residents\, developers\, government
  officials\, and open data advocates.\n\nKeywords: childcare\, OpenStreetM

DESCRIPTION:This paper revisits humanitarian mapping in OpenStreetMap from
a critical socio-technical perspective. Since the 2010s\, initiatives like
the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT) have mobilized global volunteer
s for crisis mapping\, while raising concerns about epistemic inequalities
and the marginalization of local knowledge. Focusing on the HOT Tasking M
anager\, the study examines how participation is structured through platfo
rm design\, enabling collaboration but also embedding standardization and
governance logics. Drawing on data ethnography and infrastructure studies\
, it reassesses earlier critiques and their metabolization. The paper argu
es that humanitarian mapping today oscillates between empowerment and tech

DESCRIPTION:Mapy.com is a widely used mapping application with a strong foc
us on hiking and cycling\, used daily by millions of people.\n\nIt is buil
t largely on OpenStreetMap — but using OSM in a real product at this sca
le quickly shows that the data is not always complete\, consistent\, or re
ady to use as-is.\n\nIn this talk\, I will share what we have learned whil
e running Mapy.com in production. Not an introduction to the product\, but
practical experience: what works well\, what causes problems\, and what w
e had to change or interpret to make the data usable for everyday outdoor
navigation.\n\nA key part is understanding what a good outdoor map actuall
y needs. For us\, that means things like a complete network of marked hiki
ng and cycling routes\, usable terrain information\, and details that help
people orient themselves in real conditions. When parts of this are missi
ng or inconsistent\, the result can be routes that look fine on the map bu
t don’t work well in reality. In practice\, the biggest challenge is oft
en not incorrect data\, but missing connections and incomplete route netwo
rks\, combined with strong regional differences in data quality.\n\nWe see
this in practice — situations where navigation leads people into terrai
n they are not prepared for are not rare\, and they show how important dat
a quality really is.\n\nWe will also look at attributes like surface and d
ifficulty\, access restrictions\, and seasonal limitations\, which are oft
en critical for deciding whether a route is actually suitable. I will also
touch on overtourism and how maps can better reflect real-world constrain
ts instead of just showing everything that exists.\n\nFinally\, I will sha
re how this experience feeds back into OpenStreetMap — what we contribut
e\, where we still see gaps\, and where better cooperation between compani
es and the community could help.\n\nThis talk is for anyone interested in
how OpenStreetMap is actually used in practice\, especially beyond the “
it works on the map” level.

DESCRIPTION:‘Adopt Your Town’ is a workshop proposed for third-year hig
h school pupils\, to be conducted during the 2025/26 school year. The prim
ary target of this initiative is not only to improve OpenStreetMap. This e
ducational project aims to promote a sense of unity and cohesion among pup
ils and their local community.\n\nNovice users of OpenStreetMap have a dif
ferent perspective and range of interests to more seasoned users. Conseque
ntly\, the likelihood of acquiring new data increases. Eventually\, this w
ork outlines how the OpenStreetMap environment’s tools can be used as Op
en Educational Resources (OERs).\n\nThe aim of this workshop is\, firstly\
, to enhance participants’ cartography skills and\, secondly\, focusing
on the local community\, to highlight aspects that are often overlooked by
mainstream mapping services.\n\nMoreover\, pupils have created tactile ma
ps of the school campus to assist blind individuals. This was easily and e
fficiently done using the Touch Mapper tool.\n\nThe pupils were enthusiast
ic about the prospect of creating a map of their own town. They were surpr
ised to discover a database of cartographic information similar to Wikiped
ia\, and they became even more engaged when they realised that they could
map a wide variety of subjects\, such as trees\, benches\, and defibrillat
ors. Furthermore\, the workshop shifts the focus from commercial-oriented
mapping to a more people-centred approach.\n\nEach pupil has identified an
area of interest and explored it. Some examined their immediate environme
nt\, while others mapped all the beaches in the area\, and some even mappe
d trees and street lamps. Furthermore\, some pupils have added house numbe
rs\, which in Italy are located on every door and not on every building.\n
 \nThe project was made possible because\, in Italy\, all third-year high s
chool pupils are required to do a practical project supervised by their te
 acher or tutor.

DESCRIPTION:OpenStreetMap is one of the most powerful open geospatial datas
ets in the world\, yet for many who stand to benefit most from it\, it rem
ains invisible. NGO workers planning humanitarian responses\, students con
ducting research\, local planners building community infrastructure\, and
developers looking to build location-aware applications often don't know w
here to start\, which tools to use\, or how OSM can realistically achieve
their goals for their work.\n\n[UseOSM](https://www.useosm.org/) is a comm
unity-driven platform built to close that gap. It brings together tools\,
real-world use cases\, and community stories in one accessible place\, pre
sented in plain language that anyone can understand\, not just experienced
mappers.\n\nThis talk will walk through the full vision and current state
  of [UseOSM](https://www.useosm.org/)\, covering:\n\n- Why [UseOSM](https:
//www.useosm.org/) exists — the visibility and discovery gap that motiv
ated the platform\, and why making OSM's impact legible to the wider world
matters for data quality and community growth alike.\n\n- How anyone can
get value from it — whether you're an NGO seeking the right tools for fi
eld data collection\, a researcher looking for project inspiration\, or a
developer hunting for OSM-powered software to build on or learn from.\n\n-
How to contribute content: a walkthrough of the contribution guidelines f
or adding use cases\, project spotlights\, statistics\, and stories that r
eflect the true breadth of what OSM data powers.\n\n- How developers can c
ontribute — a clear onboarding path for technical contributors who want
to help build and improve the platform itself.\n\n- What comes next — th
e repository maintenance workflow\, governance model\, and a preview of up
coming features on the platform roadmap.\n\nThe core argument is simple: t
he more people understand what OpenStreetMap makes possible\, the more mot
ivated they become to use and to contribute well. Every navigation app\, e
very humanitarian response tool\, every urban planning dataset quietly pow
ered by OSM is a missed opportunity to inspire a new contributor or spark
a new creative project. [UseOSM](https://www.useosm.org/) turns those quie
t successes into visible\, shareable stories.

DESCRIPTION:As OpenStreetMap becomes more mature and complete\, the challen
ges now lie in ensuring data quality. Mappers may receive customised feedb
ack on their contributions\, and data reusers are seeking greater confiden
ce in the information they rely on.\n\nOver the past year\, we at [MapYour
Grid](https://mapyourgrid.org/) have been working on assessing and improvi
ng the quality of power infrastructure data in OpenStreetMap. This work re
lies on existing quality assurance and monitoring tools\, such as [Osmose]
 (https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Osmose) and [Podoma](https://wiki.ope
nstreetmap.org/wiki/Podoma)\, with a quality comparison approach through a
  new platform\, [GridInspector](https://mapyourgrid.dynartio.com/gridinspe

built a coherent quality assurance strategy. We will present our experienc
e combining multiple tools\, and show how automation can support continuou
s monitoring and business-grade consistency testing.\nWe will also explore
what comes next: moving towards a highly automated quality assessment pro
cess for power infrastructure data. This includes leveraging Earth observa
tion data and designing human-in-the-loop validation processes to balance
automation with local knowledge and mapper expertise.\nWhile intended with
power infrastructure data in mind\, the methods we present are designed t
o be broadly used in many fields. Thus this presentation won’t be dedica
ted to the power infrastructure topic but only use it as an example. In fa
ct\, we would love to discuss with the community how these tools and metho
ds can be replicated to other fields (i.e. assessing data quality for wate
rways or road and urban infrastructures). \n\nAttendees will leave with
practical insights on building a QA strategy\, leveraging existing tools m
ore effectively\, and designing feedback loops that benefit both contribut
 ors and data reusers.

DESCRIPTION:Centipede-RTK is a free and collaborative network for sharing o
pen GNSS RTK data. This network enables you to obtain centimeter accuracy
geolocation. Initiated in France in 2019\, the project quickly spreads ove
r Europe and the entire World.\nOpenStreetMap (and Panoramax) contributors
can take this opportunity to create more accurate\, more detailed data.\n
\nDuring this workshop\, you will use an RTK receiver (provided) by pairin
g it with your Android smartphone (not provided). You will install an « N
TRIP client » app and set it up to access the Centipede-RTK caster. The N
TRIP client will then supply the geolocation to your favorite mapping app.
A short walk outside will enable you to check and appreciate the accuracy
achieved.\n\nThe workshop will be held in french and english\, by Stépha
ne PÉNEAU (developer of RTKBase software\, which powers most of the Centi
 pede-RTK bases) and his colleagues from Carto’Cité.\n\nPrerequisite : y
ou must have an Android phone on which you can install an "NTRIP client" a
 pp\, such as Bluetooth GNSS.

DESCRIPTION:Temporary closures of paths and roads are common in real-world
environments\, particularly in hiking regions and protected landscapes. Ho
wever\, representing these changes in OpenStreetMap remains challenging. W
hile OSM provides tagging mechanisms such as access restrictions and condi
tional tags\, their use for temporary closures is inconsistent\, and their
interpretation by routing engines and map applications varies widely.\n\n
This talk presents the results of a thesis investigating how temporary clo
sures can be effectively handled within the OSM ecosystem. It introduces a
structured approach for modelling different types of closures using exist
ing OSM tags and defines practical decision rules for their application. T
he talk further examines how these tagging strategies are interpreted by r
outing engines and demonstrates their impact on routing results under diff
erent scenarios.\n\nIn addition\, the talk presents a prototype workflow f
or integrating closure information into a dynamically updated mapping serv
ice and discusses visualization strategies for communicating closures clea

presentation of temporary closures in OSM and highlight current limitation
